Ananta: Hindu Widgets is local-first by design. Most of your reflections, preferences, and widget settings remain on your device unless you choose a feature that requires a provider or optional cloud sync.
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information Ananta: Hindu Widgets (“Ananta,” “the app,” “we,” or “us”) handles, why it is used, and the choices available to you. Ananta is operated by independent developer Aaryan Gusain.
You can use the app as a guest. Creating an account is optional. The public legal website at ananta.today does not use advertising or analytics cookies; its hosting provider may process standard request logs needed to deliver and secure the site.
Information we handle
Depending on the features you use, the app may handle:
- Your display name and selected app language.
- Liked quotes, collections, followed topics, and Gita practice progress.
- Theme, font, wallpaper, quote-feed, and personalization preferences.
- Reminder times, notification preferences, and streak information.
- Widget configurations, refresh choices, and device-local widget state.
- A broad location or selected place used for Sacred Calendar calculations.
- Subscription status and product identifiers needed to unlock premium access.
- Support messages and information you include when contacting us.
Ananta does not sell personal information. It does not require your contacts, health data, microphone, or camera to provide its core experience.
Accounts and optional sync
Guest use is local to your device. If you choose Sign in with Apple, the provider may share an email address, relay email address, and name according to the options you select. Firebase Authentication is used to create or access your account.
When cloud services are available and you sign in, eligible data may be stored in Firebase Firestore so it can be restored on another device. This can include your display name, language, likes, collections, followed topics, theme choices, reminders, streaks, and practice progress. Firestore sync is optional and never required for guest use.
Widget configurations and device notification scheduling identifiers stay local because they are specific to that device.
Sacred Calendar and location
Sacred Calendar needs a place to calculate sunrise, Panchanga information, and observances. You may select a place or allow iOS to provide an approximate location. Ananta does not need precise, continuous, or background location access.
A broad latitude and longitude, time zone, requested date window, country or region, and selected language may be sent to the dedicated Sacred Calendar service and its Panchanga data provider. Responses may be cached to improve reliability and control service usage. This information is used for calendar calculations, not advertising or location tracking.
Permissions and device features
- Notifications: to deliver quote, practice, or streak reminders that you enable.
- Approximate location: to calculate local Sacred Calendar information when you choose that option.
- Photos: to save a quote wallpaper or exported quote image when you request it.
- Share and clipboard: only when you explicitly share or copy content.
- Widgets: to show selected quotes, themes, fonts, and calendar information on supported system surfaces.
You can deny or later change system permissions in device Settings. Some related features may then be unavailable.
Subscriptions and payments
Purchases, trials, renewals, cancellations, and refunds are handled by Apple through the App Store. RevenueCat may process transaction identifiers, subscription status, product identifiers, and an app-specific user identifier to determine premium access.
We do not receive your complete payment-card details. Apple and RevenueCat process subscription information under their own privacy policies.
Analytics, diagnostics, and attribution
When analytics or attribution services are enabled in a distributed build, Ananta may record limited events such as app launch, onboarding progress, feature use, paywall views, purchases, restores, notification results, and errors. This helps us understand reliability and whether app features are useful.
Depending on your device settings and consent, providers such as PostHog, AppsFlyer, Meta, or Apple may receive app version, device and OS information, language, event timestamps, coarse region, campaign information, and an app-scoped or advertising attribution identifier. Ananta does not use the content of your saved quotes, precise location, or Sacred Calendar selections for behavioural advertising.
Service providers
Information is shared only as needed to provide features you choose to use:
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple, App Store billing, notifications, widgets, and other platform services.
- Firebase, for authentication, optional cloud sync, and the dedicated Sacred Calendar service.
- Prokerala, for Panchanga and observance calculations requested through Sacred Calendar.
- RevenueCat, for subscription and entitlement management when monetization is enabled.
- PostHog, AppsFlyer, and Meta, for limited analytics or attribution when those services are enabled.
- Vercel, for hosting this public legal website.
Providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies and may process it in countries other than your own.
Retention, security, and deletion
Local app data remains on your device until you remove it, use an in-app deletion control, or delete the app. If you are signed in, synced account data remains until you use the in-app account deletion flow or ask us for help, subject to security, fraud-prevention, and legal retention needs.
Subscription records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their own requirements. Sacred Calendar responses and broad request parameters may be kept in a time-limited cache. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices and rights
- Use the app without creating an account.
- Choose whether to enable cloud sync, reminders, analytics consent, or location access.
- Change language, personalization, and widget settings at any time.
- Revoke permissions in iOS Settings.
- Delete local data, your signed-in account, and eligible synced data.
- Request access, correction, or deletion where applicable law provides those rights.
To make a privacy request, email us from the address associated with your account, if any. We may need to verify the request before acting on it.
Children’s privacy
Ananta is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the app changes. The effective date above will be revised when a new version becomes effective. Material changes may also be communicated in the app where appropriate.
